An alternative to Telegram forex signals: levels with a stop, sized from the stop

A Telegram forex signal is usually a pair, a direction and a price, sent the moment it is valid. The alternative is a weekly plan: the pair, the entry, the stop and the target written down before the week opens, an alert when price arrives, and a size worked out from the stop. That removes the race to act on a message and the guess about where to get out.

What regulators have said about chat-app trading groups

The CFTC warned in October 2024 that scammers add random or targeted phone numbers to WhatsApp groups and Telegram chats, and told the public to be suspicious of messages received through them. The FCA warned in October 2025 about finfluencers who promise unrealistic returns to people who copy their trades or pay for daily trading tips. ASIC has described pump and dump operators pulling people from social media ads into private chats on messaging apps. All checked 8 Oct 2026.

None of that makes every channel a scam. It does mean the burden of proof sits with the channel: a full list of past signals, losers included, with the stop each one was sent with.

A message versus a plan

A signal arrives as "EURUSD sell now 1.1640", maybe with a stop, often with three targets. By the time you read it the price has moved, the stop may not suit your account, and the size is up to you. A plan answers those in advance. Here is a forex plan from the Desk record: GBP/NZD long, entry 2.2976, stop 2.2806, target 2.3358, published before the fill. The trigger came on 7 September 2026 and the target a week later, +2.25R.

The closed GBP/NZD long on an R ladder: entry 2.2976, stop 2.2806, target 2.3358 hit for +2.25R
From the record: a forex plan with all three prices written down before the fill. No race to read a message; the alert came when price got there.

Size from the stop, every time

The step most signal followers skip is sizing. A 59 pip stop and a 15 pip stop cannot take the same lot size if each loss is to be the same share of the account. The Position size tool in the free Markets tab does it from the account, the risk percentage and the levels.

The Position size tool in the free Markets tab: $10,000 account, 1% risk, EUR/USD short entry 1.1636 and stop 1.1695 gives 0.17 lots
In the app: an example $10,000 account risking 1% on a 59 pip EUR/USD stop gets 0.17 lots. Free in the Markets tab.

FAQ

Are Telegram forex signals worth it?

Only if the channel shows every past signal with the stop it was sent with and the result, losers included. Regulators including the CFTC and FCA have warned about trading tips sold through chat apps.

What is the alternative to Telegram signals?

A weekly plan with the entry, stop and target set in advance, an alert when price reaches the entry, and the position sized from the stop.

Does the Trade Desk use Telegram?

No. Setups sit on a board in the app, alerts go by push and email, and the reasoning is in the paid Substack letters.

How do I size a forex signal?

Divide the money you are willing to lose by the stop distance in pips times the pip value. The free Position size tool on the Trade Desk does it for you.
