MRKT Edge vs the Trade Desk: macro research, or the trade itself

MRKT Edge and the Trade Desk solve different problems. MRKT Edge describes itself as professional macro tools for traders: headlines and alerts, an AI research desk, money flows, a calendar and COT data, with MRKT PRO at $499 a year. The Trade Desk is a setup service: every Sunday it publishes swing trades with the entry, stop and target, and its macro panels are free. If you want research, compare the tools; if you want the trade written down, that is the Desk.

What MRKT Edge offers

From its homepage (checked 8 Oct 2026): live headlines and alerts, "Ask MRKT", an AI research assistant that cites its sources, smart money flows, an economic calendar, COT data and an academy, covering gold, indices, FX, rates, crypto and single stocks. Some tools are free with no card. MRKT PRO is listed at $41.67 a month, billed $499 once a year. The page we checked did not present trade setups or a track record, and states that nothing on it is financial advice.

What the Desk offers for free on the macro side

The Desk's Markets section is free with an email: a daily brief, the chart with the news on the candle it hit, the heatmap, currency strength, risk tone, money flow, momentum, sessions, the calendar, central banks, COT positioning and more. It is there to support the trade, not replace it.

The free daily market brief in the Trade Desk: risk on or off, strongest and weakest currency, the next big release, crowded positioning and the biggest move
In the app: the free daily brief. Risk tone, the strongest and weakest currency, the next release and who is crowded, in five lines.
The economic calendar in the free Markets tab with the week’s releases in the reader’s time zone
In the app: the free calendar, every release in your time zone with the forecast and the previous figure.

Which one you need

If you already have a method and want deeper research on the macro picture, a research platform is the right purchase and the Desk's free panels may be enough on their own. If you have the research and lack the discipline of a written plan, research is not the gap. The Desk turns the same macro read into three prices per trade and grades the result: the weekly forex ideas and gold setups pages show how.

The closed EUR/USD short on an R ladder: entry 1.1636, stop 1.1695, closed early at 1.1536 for +1.70R
From the record: what the macro read becomes on the Desk. A EUR/USD short with its stop and target set in advance, closed for +1.70R.
